AI Developments from January 1 to January 7, 2024
The Start of the New Year Shows the Same Explosive Growth as Last Year..
I would have loved to write other tech articles last week, but unfortunately, I had no time left.
However, the weekly AI News will still be delivered on time!
We are witnessing rapid developments that cannot be contained anymore.
I cannot comprehend all that is happening, especially in the AI agent space. The OpenAI GPT store will open soon, as you may have already heard, and I believe it’s going to change things even faster.
Moving on to other news, here’s a summary of the key AI developments from the first week of January:
Generative AI’s Second Wave in Video Production:
In 2024, the focus in generative AI has shifted towards video production. Companies like Runway are releasing advanced tools for creating short, high-quality videos, comparable to Pixar’s output.
Major movie studios are also exploring generative AI for applications like lip-syncing and special effects. The use of deepfake technology is becoming more prevalent in marketing and training as well.
With tools like Heygen (Affiliate) evolving, deepfake video is soon getting indistinguishable from real people.
Multitasking Robots:
Inspired by generative AI techniques, there’s a trend towards building more general-purpose robots capable of performing a wider range of tasks. This approach aims to create multifunctional robots that can adapt to various tasks, as opposed to being specialized in a single function.
Mobile Aloha just showed the capabilities of current robots, robotics and what individuals can create. Watch this:

OpenAI’s App Store for GPT Models to Launch
OpenAI announced the upcoming launch of a store for GPT models sometime next week, featuring custom apps based on its text-generating AI models like GPT-4. This store is expected to offer various applications utilizing OpenAI’s technology, showcasing the company’s expansion into new areas of AI-driven services. It may be time for you to get to know gpts and how to create them better. Of course I can make a tutorial on that, just tell me. I already made a GPT with (kind of) short term, medium and long term memory.
Samsung’s New Galaxy S24 Smartphones:
Samsung is set to unveil its new Galaxy S24 smartphones on January 17th. These new models are expected to have enhanced AI capabilities, showcasing the ongoing integration of AI technology in consumer electronics.
The Dangers of Those Fast Developments:
I don’t even have to write much, a lot of them are already known. Stumbled upon this video, will also clear up some things and show other not so common dangerous ways those developments could become more dangerous at the end of it:
